Welcome to the Institute,

I welcome you on behalf of all the employees of the Institute of Animal Sciences!

In short, our institute carries out basic activities of education, research and innovation. However, since our Institute represents one of the oldest and most traditional branches of our agricultural culture, animal husbandry, our activities are much more diverse than described above. Each of our employees is closely tied to their profession. In addition to education and research in the traditional areas of animal husbandry, our colleagues are also practitioners of modern, new scientific fields that meet the challenges of today (e.g. precision and sustainable animal husbandry, livestock biotechnology, livestock genomics, one health... etc.).

In addition to all this, we believe that the "good shepherd smells like sheep", so our colleagues have an active relationship with the practical part of the profession. In addition to colleagues working in teaching and research positions, we also have a number of engineers, technicians, qualified laboratory assistants, and administrative staff with significant experience in the field of financial administration.

Beyond the traditional teacher-researcher training, qualified professionals working in the competitive sector also help the work of the Institute. In a special partnership, we also manage the research activities related to the animal breeding profession of the Dr. József Baka Diagnostic, Oncoradiology, Research and Education Center of the Somogy County Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital.

As part of our dissemination activity, we regularly organize professional conferences (e.g. poultry, rabbit, beef breeding, Youth Science Forum, Gödöllő Livestock Science Day, etc.). Our colleagues actively participate in the organization and management of Transdanubia's largest agricultural exhibition (KÁN University Days). On average, 150-200 publications are published under the name of our colleagues.

We place great emphasis on nurturing talent, practicality and presenting the livestock profession to the public and increasing its recognition. Our dedicated staff will do a lot to turn the interested student into a dedicated specialist in the animal husbandry profession. For our students, we would like the work spent with us to contribute to the MATE student years being a lifelong memory.

We believe: "Life is not the days that are gone, but the days that are remembered."

My colleagues and I are trying to do everything for this, since we were also students.

Dr. Habil. David Mezoszentgyorgyi
Institute Director
